MACHTANS, Dirk
March 6, 1947 – September 4, 2016

It is with heartfelt sadness that our family announce the peaceful passing of Dirk Machtans, surrounded by his family on September 4, 2016.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Susan of 47 years, daughters Holly (Joe), Jennifer (Mike) and Patricia, grandchildren; Leonardo, Sofia, Francesca, Nolan and Hannah, and numerous relatives and dear friends.

Dirk was predeceased by his parents Charles and Ursula and brother Rainer.

A Celebration of Dirk’s life will be held on Saturday September 24, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Funeral Home, 10530 116 Street, Edmonton, AB.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Mazankowski Heart Institute, 11220 83 Avenue, Edmonton or Cross Cancer Institute (Lung) 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton in Dirk’s name.

Dirk Machtans retired in October 2011 after 46 years with CFRN-TV in Master Control, including Robotic Operation of the cameras.
