Timothy Walter Dancy (Tim)
March 4, 1952 – August 3, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Timothy Walter Dancy announce his unexpected passing on August 3, 2020 in Edmonton.

Tim is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Joanne, daughter Colleen (Jesse Lund), son Mark, Grandson Jax Lund, sister Adeline Mandric, sister Adele Edwards (Leonard), sister and brother in-law Colleen Austin (John), Gary Dechant, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles. Tim is predeceased by his parents Walter Yakimowich and Antoinette Dancy. Tim was born March 4, 1952, Elk Point, Alberta.

Tim started his career behind the mic, playing guitar in a Rock & Roll Band (Sage). He went on to ITV Sports Director. Tim was an integral part of the Edmonton Oilers History serving as play by play announcer from 1979-1983. He called the goal in Oiler history and Wayne Gretzky’s 50th goal in 39 games along with many other historical Oiler moments. Tim went on to Regina in the same role for the Saskatchewan Roughriders as well as Shaw Cable & Ched Radio. Tim was a longstanding member of the Edmonton media, a great broadcaster, most importantly, Tim was an outstanding Husband, Father, Grumpa, Brother; one of the kindest humans on earth.
