History

The Edmonton Broadcasters Club was formed in 1998 by retired veteran Edmonton broadcasters Peggy Miller-Day, Gordon Skutle, Ruth Rankin and George Duffield.

Semi-annual get-togethers were begun to give long-time broadcasters an opportunity to renew acquaintanceships with colleagues and friends, and to make new ones. By 2004, the club could boast of having over 100 members.

In 2005, a new page was turned in the Club’s history with the introduction of its first web site. As well as helping members to keep in touch, a local broadcast history aspect was also introduced, though it was not until 2012 that history was formally added to the Club’s Mission Statement. Details of the web site’s history is available by clicking here.
