Fred Filthaut

Fred’s 40 year career in Television started in January 1966, as a telecine operator at CJLH-TV in Lethbridge, Alberta. Spending twenty years at that station, he rose through the ranks to become Assistant General Manager.

In 1986, Fred moved to Regina to build the CanWest station there. After six years in his native province of Saskatchewan, Fred and family moved to Edmonton where he managed CFRN-TV. Fred finished his last ten years prior to retirement as the Senior Vice-President of CTV West.

Fred enjoyed giving back to the community and the industry with active roles in The United Way, Chamber of Commerce, Churchill Square Legacy Project, Economic Development (Edmonton), West Edmonton Business Association, the Good Neighbour Charity, Juno Awards, Television Bureau of Canada, Canadian Association of Broadcasters, Western Association of Broadcasters, Alberta Association of Broadcasters, Saskatchewan Association of Broadcasters, and numerous Community fund raising events.
