Dennis Freeman

Now here’s a switch! From TV switcher to announcer to disc jockey to studio audio and back to switcher director — Dennis has done them all!

His broadcasting career began in 1959 at CHAT-TV, Medicine Hat, as switcher and announcer. Next came a stint at CKSA radio and television, Lloydminster, as disc jockey and switcher director. Then, taking the road west, Dennis settled in at CFRN-TV, Edmonton, employing his skills in studio audio, announcing and switching.

As the highlight of his career, Dennis recalls working on CFRN’s Noon Show, and “having fun with some wonderful characters”.

Like many former CFRN broadcasters, he names that station as the one to which he feels most closely attached.
