One of the advantages of small town entry into broadcasting is that you need to learn to do everything! Such was the case when Marty Larson began his career in 1957 as an announcer at CFCW, Camrose, where he quickly became an everything guy.
From 1958 to 1960, Marty worked in a new venue — CKRD, Red Deer, as both DJ and Sportscaster. He then moved to CFRN Radio and TV, Edmonton, to do Sports and News, which led to his appointment as News Editor. Later, his career centred on business broadcasts at CHQT Radio, CFRN-TV, and ITV, all located in Alberta’s capital city.
Recalling highlights of his career, Marty happily remembers many interviews with international news and sports notables, as well as the fun of doing play-by-play hockey broadcasts for CKRD and CFRN-TV.
