Dave Machida

Biography

David is one of the few people in broadcasting who began and ended a long career at the same Television Station. He joined CBC’s CBXT-TV in Edmonton in December 1969, and retired from there in 1996, having served twenty-seven years as a Level Three TV Maintenance Technician.

Highlights of David’s career include working as technician on mobile units covering parades, golf tournaments, the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton (1978), and many other events.

To David, retirement means continuing to work with his own company. He contracts out, working as an electronic technician, serving the Alberta Provincial Archives and FAVA (Film Arts & Video Machines). He also builds and services electronic appliances for personal clients.
