Throughout his forty-six years in broadcasting, Irv was affectionately known as Uncle Irv to his thousands of radio listeners.

His radio career began in 1948 at CHAT, Medicine Hat, where he was a staff announcer. He worked there until 1953, when he moved to Edmonton to spend the following twenty years at CFRN as the popular Morning Man. He wound up his broadcasting career in 1990, doing the nine-to-noon shift at CHQT.

A highlight of Irv’s career was hosting the first of the media tours in Western Canada. His far-flung destinations included three tours to Hawaii, three cruises to the Caribbean, along with trips to Mexico, Alaska and Disneyland, always accompanied by a group of loyal fans.

Another highlight for Irv was a trip to Hollywood for the Premiere of My Fair Lady, when he met stars Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison, as well as becoming acquainted with many deejays from around North America.

Upon retiring from broadcasting, Irv moved into the field of promotions with Creative Concepts. He is now fully retired.
