Dean Beaton

Obituary

Kenneth Dean Beaton
November 9, 1955 – August 2, 2021

It is with profound sadness that the family of Dean Beaton announces that he passed away on August 2, 2021, after a long and challenging battle with cancer. Showered with love and affection from his family, he died peacefully in the company of his wife, Donna, just a few days before their 40th wedding anniversary.

Dean was predeceased by his mother, Trudy Beaton, and his father, Kenneth Beaton. As well as Donna, he leaves behind their children, Lindsay Pankotsch (Shane) and Kenny Beaton (Rachel); two cherished granddaughters, Tilly and Charlie; and his sisters, Lynne Saunders (Dale) and Karen Ruhl (Eric), in addition to extended family and a plethora of friends that were like family.

Dean loved travel, golf, hockey, smooth jazz, and politics but his family were the most precious parts of his world. His most perfect times were spent in the company of his wife, kids and granddaughters, at gatherings brimming with love, laughter and chocolate cake.

Often among the last to leave any party, Dean never shied away from a good time with friends. He had a lust for life, an impeccable sense of humor, and an infectious laugh. He appreciated a good joke and had mastered the art of a well-told story. A natural people person, he lit up any room he entered with his smile, warmth and charming personality. His memorable people skills served him well in business, and he leaves behind long-time associates and clients who appreciated both his style and dedication.

Dean was inspirational with his unfaltering optimism, mental fortitude, positivity and talent for making the most of any situation. Deano‘s Big Adventure included both miracles and some nasty twists and turns, but he always had a smile and kind word for everyone. Not many would have guessed the personal battles Dean was facing, even as he valiantly fought to the very end.

The family expresses its deepest appreciation for the doctors, specialists, staff and volunteers at the Cross Cancer Institute. They were utterly invaluable in helping Dean ‘Charge the machine gun nest.‘

Dean’s life will be celebrated Friday, August 27 at 2 pm, at Westlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dean’s name to the Cross Cancer Institute.
