From His Sister

John David Cumming

My brother, John Cumming, passed away suddenly on February 19th, 2017. He passed away in the early morning, at 2:30 am at Royal Columbian Hospital from an abdominal aorta aneurysm. He had an emergency operation after being brought to hospital by ambulance. They couldn’t save him. John was 68 years old. He had been retired for 8 years from being a special education assistant for the Richmond School Board.

Ever since John had been a teenager, his first love was radio. I remember him hanging out the bedroom window connected with a can and a string to his friend’s bedroom next door. They could talk, yell and announce back and forth while spinning 45’s on the record player. John was hooked from then on. He had a great voice.

John leaves no children behind, I’m his only sibling and he had 2 nieces, my daughters, Kim and Jessica.

Thank you for remembering him, he was a good man and I miss him.

His sister,

Susan Cumming with no “s”

John always put an “s” on the end of Cumming, he thought it sounded better for radio.
