Dave Cummins

Dave Cummins was a CHED DJ in the 1960s and early 1970s who passed away after a short illness on May 10, 2016, in Florida.  He was 80 years old.

Dave later worked at CKST in St. Albert, and CKOV in Kelowna.

Dave Cummins was born February 9th, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio and died at the age of 80 a year ago this month in central Florida. He attended Ohio State University in the mid-1950’s and worked at a number of radio stations in the Buckeye State until he relocated his family to the Tidewater area of Southeast Virginia in the spring of 1962. Dave did mornings at WHIH-1400, licensed to Portsmouth, Virginia for six months. In December 1962, he was hired as the midday man at the market’s top station WGH (which stands for World’s Greatest Harbor) , which is at 1310 and licensed to Newport News-Norfolk. Dave left around Thanksgiving 1967 to join former WGH D.J. Keith James at CHED in Alberta, Canada. If you enlarge the February 1968 survey from CHED-630 you’ll see the Dave of the frozen north.
