Jack Dawson

Well known Canadian broadcaster Jack Dawson passed away in Toronto on July 21st, 2008, just three weeks after his 91st birthday. Jack started at CJOC, Lethbridge in the 1930’s, and toward the latter part of that decade he moved to CJCA, Edmonton. It was in 1939 or 1940 that he moved to Toronto, where he was hired by CFRB. Except for a stint in the RCAF during WW2, Jack was to remain at CFRB for the rest of his outstanding broadcasting career. Known as a prankster, the stories of Jack’s early years at the Toronto station are legend. In 1960 he became Program Director, and went on to become Manager of CFRB. Having made a considerable contribution to broadcasting, Jack decided to retire at the age of 55.
