FRENZEL, Harald Juergen
April 27, 1952 – March 25, 2014
Harald passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the age of 61.
Harald was born in Halle, Germany in 1952 and immigrated to Canada in 1957 with his parents and two of his brothers. He is survived by three brothers, Rudiger in Germany, Wally (Margaret), Fritz (Corienne) both of Alberta. He is also survived by his nieces, Paula (Harold), Pam (Merle), Cindy (Lee), Judy (Randy) as well as one nephew, Thorston in Germany. There are also the grandnieces, Samantha, Kallie, Quinn, Reese and the grandnephews, Cooper, Evan, Bryton, Austin.
He was predeceased by his father in 1981, mother in 2002 and sister in law, Barbara in Germany 2013.
Harald really loved his pets, skiing, motorcycling, swimming and his cinema/photography business.
There now will be another missing link in our family chain.
We will miss you, Harald.

I will miss my friend Harald…we met thirty years ago while working together on projects for our jobs with a local TV station. He was a talented camera-man…and videographer who formed his own production company for which I was a script-writer and occasional narrator. Harald’s unique sense of humour helped to sustain him through a long battle with cancer. I will miss my friend…and am glad I had the chance to enjoy one more chocolate shake…and say “goodbye”. Every Day is a Gift. You called me “one-take Jana”…but when you called me to pray…I “took Direction” and had many talks with our Creator. Your friends remember you fondly.

I worked with Harald over the past ten years as he struggled to make a living. He tried to keep film alive after working for years at CFRN. He told me this fall that the cancer came back. I told him I would see him in the spring but I guess that wasn’t to be. Goodbye my friend.

I remember Harald as an unapologetic non-conformist. I always admired that about him. He was amusing and interesting to talk to. Gone much too young. My condolences to his family and friends.

Harald’s characteristic face came to mind often as I recalled the many people that left the Sunwapta Teepee for more diversity. I did a couple of video edits in his facility years ago. I wish I had seen him more often as he was a cool cameraman. I respect him for being that “cool individual”. RIP Harald…

Will never forget Harald from our days at CFRN. One of a kind. As photographer, he always kept you on your toes. As his Union Rep. very challenging. Had to admire his sense of humour and firm conviction of what is right and wrong.
