Obituary
HAGERMAN, John (Jack) Worthington
On August 8, 2019, Jack passed away at the age of 92. He dearly missed his wife of 65 years, Hope, who left us in 2017. He leaves behind his children: James (Deanna) and Jan (Don), grandchildren: Mitchell, Spencer, Drew and Dana, sister, Frances and sister-in-law, Chris. We are very thankful for the friendship and thoughtfulness of his best pal and neighbour, Bruce Barss, Wanda Bourne and Brian Dunsmore. The best part of his day was when family or friends would drop in to “shoot the breeze.” Jack was forever grateful to have enjoyed 70 years with CKUA Radio and always considered them his second family. He wore many hats but as John Worthington, The Old Disc Jockey, it enabled him to keep playing those old records and continue his true passion as a broadcaster. To his colleagues and loyal listeners, thank you for all the kind words. He genuinely appreciated your support of his program and CKUA. Jack was a true gentleman and very giving of his time and knowledge. He always told us how lucky he’d been his whole life, but we were the lucky ones to have known him. We’ll miss you Papa. At Jack’s request there will be no Funeral or Memorial Service. Donations in memory of Jack may be made to the CKUA Radio Foundation (ckua.com), the Alzheimer Society of Alberta or to the charity of your choice. “Onward, to yesterday”
