Alex Moir

MOIR, Alexander George April 23, 1925 – October 30, 2009 Alexander G. Moir, of Sherwood Park, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 years. It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of a very special man. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 56 years – Hilda. Hissons: Craig (Peg), Grant (Kelly), Wayne (Deanna) and Sean (Alison) and seven grandchildren; Jill, Mark, Alanna, Matt, Keiran, Anthony and Will. Also remembered by his Sister-in-Law Edna Haygarth (England), niece Valerie (Holland) and nephew Christopher (England) and their families, along with numerous other relatives and friends in Canada, England and Scotland. Alex was predeceased by a son Ross. Alex was born in Sedgewick Alberta but spent most of his early years in the UK where he attended school and served in the British Army during the Second World War. A long time Edmonton broadcaster with the CBC, Alex was well known as the anchor of the supper hour TV news; a position he held for 25 years. Alex had a strong dedication to his family and a great zest for all things that life had to offer. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 5th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 4820 Meridian Street, Sherwood Park.
