Bernie Oppelt

OPPELT, Bernard – “Bernie” Vernon August 30, 1929 – March 26, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Bernie died peacefully at Capital Care Lynnwood on March 26 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 79 years old. Bernie will be lovingly remembered by Helen, his wife of 51 years; son Kevin; daughter Wendy (Jeff Betts); granddaughter Sophie Betts; four sisters: Berniece Arial (his twin), Betty Bre-Win, Margaret Tremblay and Dorothy Hurlbut; two brothers, Harold (Anne) Oppelt, and Robert (June) Oppelt; two sisters-in-law, Alyce Oppelt and Edna Oppelt; and many nieces and nephews. Bernie was predeceased by his son Chris Brian Oppelt in 1984, his parents Mary and Peter Oppelt, two brothers Ernie and Walter Oppelt. A very special thank you goes to his family and friends who were there by his side to hold his hand through his difficult illness. We would also like to extend a heart felt thank you to all of the incredible, loving staff at Capital Care Lynnwood. Life, love and light. A service and reception will be held on Saturday, April 4th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Howard & McBride Westlawn, 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton.
